Science Placement exams are open to newly-admitted students only, and must be written the semester they are admitted. Placement Testing The Testing Center The Testing Center provides services for students to complete a variety of tests including, but not limited to, placement testing (ACCUPLACER), specialized tests such as the nursing entrance test, CLEP, Pearson VUE, as well as tests associated with online or web-enhanced courses. ![]() The math placement test is available on a Canvas site called 'Math placement exam 2023.' Results can be accessed immediately upon submission of the exam, by clicking on the 'placement calculator' tab on the same site. Applicants have the option of not writing the placement exam(s) once they have applied however, the application fee will not be refunded. What Is ACCUPLACER ACCUPLACER is the most powerful tool available to help colleges assess student readiness for introductory credit-bearing courses and make reliable placement decisions. Results return via Canvas, 'ASL Placement Test Site 23-24,' by August 7 at 5 p.m. Once your application has been received, your student account will be charged automatically. Note : There is a non-refundable application fee for each exam. Official results must be sent to Ohio State. Any student who has already received AP Calculus test score prior to their orientation session and received a 3, 4, or 5 on the AB or BC exam. Students who pass the placement exam for biology, chemistry, or physics must pass the corresponding lab course if they did not study in a formal course that included laboratory work meeting the relevant department's approval. All non-Engineering entering students are required to take the Math Placement Test unless one of the following is true. ![]() Your score is valid for 11 months from the time you took the test. Please take the required math placement tests at least 24 hours before enrolling in your desired courses. In the ‘Math Placement’ section, students can choose ‘Practice Exams and Quizzes’ and find practice tests for both the Calculus 1 and Pre-Calculus placement exams. The math placement tests are available year-round, except for short periods in late January to early February and late August to early September. If you feel that you've completed the equivalent of one or more university-level science courses, but do not have acceptable certification to that effect, you may be eligible to write admission placement exams in biology, chemistry, math, or physics. Newly admitted McGill students may earn a course exemption from one or more basic science courses by taking an admission placement exam before starting classes.
